We are on a roll with new features this year, and are really excited to introduce two enterprise-level video security features. SproutVideo now offers IP Address restriction and single-sign-on (SSO) to help larger companies keep their extensive video libraries secure. Both of these new video security features are intended to be used in conjunction with our video websites feature, which we also upgraded recently. Keep reading for details on how to access and leverage these great new video privacy features to help keep your video content secure.
IP Address Restriction
IP Address restriction allows you to easily regulate video access so that only people who are connecting to your videos from a specific Ip Address, or range of Ip Addresses can view your videos. If the viewer is not originating from an approved connection, the video will not load. If you are using our brandable video websites feature, then your video site will only load for users connecting through an approved IP Address.
IP Address restriction is an account-wide setting, and will affect all the videos in your account. It is an extremely secure way to control access to your videos, and to ensure that only people inside your company or connecting to a company network through a VPN can watch your videos.
Single-Sign-On (SSO)
SSO provides a similarly seamless viewing experience for protected video content. Although our login protection feature is a very powerful way to track and control viewer access to your videos, for large corporations with many thousands of employees, it can quickly become unwieldy to manage all those login permissions.
SSO solves that issue by using SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) 2.0 to authenticate your viewers through your company’s Identity Provider to our platform. That means employees will be able to enter their existing company login credentials to access your videos, and you won’t have the headache of trying to maintain accurate login permissions for all your company’s employees.
Currently, SSO is only available with SproutVideo’s brandable video websites, which allow you to quickly and easily build a beautiful website around your video content. If you are an existing subscriber, you can get access to those features simply by emailing our support team and requesting to have the video site feature enabled for your account. Once it is enabled, you will be able to set up SSO for your video site.
If you don’t currently have a video hosting account with us, and are interested in testing these security features for yourself, you can sign up for a free trial today and get started. Just be sure to email support@sproutvideo.com to get the video sites feature and SSO enabled for your account when you do.
We hope you are as excited about these features as we are!
